Walgreens wanted to find a way to provide resources, supplies and training programs to educators and students across America
As a company deeply committed to empowering the communities it serves, Walgreens was eager to partner to develop a national teachers program to support schools, educators and learners by providing access to free educational tools, supplies and resources.
Under the program, Walgreens committed 5 million to help educators address issues such as youth violence, poverty, diversity and inclusion, bullying and mental health and wellbeing.
Mental Health America assisted in informing the development of training for educators to work with students who have experienced trauma or were suffering from mental health experiences that impeded their learning and happiness.
Through the program, educators could access online digital training modules to help them identify and assess issues affecting their students, secure the tools needed to address the issues in a supportive manner, introduce new experiential learning techniques in the classroom and help students become more socially conscious, compassionate and engaged citizens. The modules were provided in English and Spanish across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
The program also included a nationwide teachers award in which students could nominate teachers to win classroom supplies.
